The film sees a drug dealer looking to enjoy his ill-got gains, but before he can retire from his underworld life, his boss has two more requests for him - including finding the drug-taking daughter of a local crime lord.

Layer Cake has a 7.2 rating on IMDb, standing the test of time over two decades to remain one of the UK’s most loved gangster classics.

Who starred in Layer Cake?

Daniel Craig stars as the protagonist X in Layer Cake and has since gone on to star as James Bond five times, including the much-loved Academy Award-winning Skyfall.

Tom Hardy was relatively unknown when he was cast to play the part of Clarkie in Layer Cake, but has since become a household name with starring roles in The Dark Knight Rises, Legend and Peaky Blinders.

Sir Michael Gambon was already very well known by the time he appeared as Eddie Temple in the film and made his first appearance as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise the same year (2004).
