Fort Nelson to host outdoor theatre production of The Three Musketeers
Fort Nelson will host the swashbuckling show on September 4
A Victorian fort is hosting an outdoor production of The Three Musketeers in a unique treat for theatre-goers.
Fort Nelson, on Portsdown Hill, will host the play on the drama company Illyria Theatre who will perform an adaptation of the adventure tale on the Parade Ground overlooking Portsmouth Harbour on Friday September 4.
The Three Musketeers showcases the tale of D’Artagnan who wants to join the Kings Guard but has to prove himself – this show guarantees a dazzling display of swordplay during the performance.
“Illyria Theatre Company are outstanding and we are delighted to be working with them again for this production - we know audiences enjoy their performances,” said Beth Cohen, the venue’s event manager.

“Fort Nelson is a really special venue for outdoor theatre and visitors love watching productions on our Parade Ground,” said Ms Cohen.
The fort was built in the 1860s and played a significant role in both World Wars, as barracks for troops and as an ammunition supply depot.
Tickets for the outdoor shows are on sale now and cost £19.50 for adults and £10.84 for children, plus additional booking fees. The show starts at 6pm and attendees will need to bring something to sit on.
It is now a national museum run by the Royal Armouries - general admission is free and it is open daily throughout the school holidays.
