A gorgeous luxury cruise ship has returned to Portsmouth after being a regular fixture in the city.

Cllr Steve Pitt, leader of Portsmouth City Council said: “It’s great to see Virgin Voyages return to the city this morning. Portsmouth is the global brand’s UK home, and today’s first call of the season marks another milestone for our port with the first commercial connection of a cruise ship.

“Valiant Lady has successfully plugged in to the port’s newly commissioned shore power system meaning it is taking 100 per cent renewable power straight from the grid and switching off engines while in port. They plan to continue this across their three calls this month, meaning whenever and wherever residents spot the spectacle, it is reducing emissions and helping to improve air quality around the port.”

More than 2,500 tourists disembarked this morning, with around 2,400 stepping onboard for their holiday. Promising to take passengers on trips to the Caribbean and across Europe while organising a whole host of entertainment events, thousands of people step aboard the ships every year.

Facts and figures about Resilient Lady

She weighs a gross tonnage of 110,000 and is 912ft long, while being able to transport up to 2,770 passengers at once. Across her 17 decks, the mega cruise liner boasts a whole host of amenities.
