Locksheath Pumas show their appreciation for the NHS with £500 donation
Locksheath Pumas RFC have donated £500 to the Friends of Fareham Community Hospital.
Chairman George Winch, members of the senior sides and some of the club’s Puma Cubs made a cheque presentation this week.
The players and committee commissioned a one-off NHS training shirt and vest which raised £250 in profits - and the club donated the same amount.
Winch explained: ‘The players felt a deep appreciation for the selfless work carried out by our local NHS and wanted to show their appreciation.
‘Upon further discussion with the committee, we decided to match the donation and are thrilled to present the cheque to our local NHS Hospital.
‘We are a thriving rugby club, having just been promoted to the Hampshire Premiership, and also run a successful Puma Cubs minis section.
‘This is a just a small gesture we wished to make for all the great work those in the NHS undertake.’
Pumas are still trying to find a local ground to continue their growth and welcome any dialogue with a local landowner who can help.
Non-contact training for adults has started at Hook with Warsash School at 7pm on Thursdays.
Social touch rugby takes place at Hunts Pond Road Recreational Ground at 10am on Saturdays, and the Puma Cubs - for ages 5-11 years - play on Sundays (9.30am) at Hook with Warsash School.
