Thompson starts four-game Pompey ban

Nathan Thompson tonight begins a four-game Pompey suspension.

The versatile Blues player was given his marching orders in the second half at Southend on Saturday for a late lunge on Ben Coker.

Thompson will serve an additional game from the usual three-match ban for serious foul play, with the dismissal his second of the season.

The 27-year-old was sent off at Luton in the FA Cup in November for two yellow cards.

That will see him miss the trip to Fleetwood along with the clashes with Blackpool, Bradford and Gillingham.

Thompson himself was unaware of the additional game’s suspension until he was informed yesterday.
