Pompey travel to Adams Park on Friday (January 9) to face Wycombe Wanderers in an FA Cup third round tie.
As a result of their second-tier status, Pompey enter at the third round stage like Premier League clubs, while Wycombe have already had to go through two rounds. The Chairboys overcame York City in the first round, and then navigated their way past Wealdstone at the end of November.
Pompey and Wycombe met last season, with John Mousinho's side doing the double over them. A 2-1 win came at Fratton Park in October 2023, which was then followed by a 3-1 win at Adams Park in March.
The two teams have mainly met with one another in the league, both in League One and League Two. They did play each other in the FA Cup back in November 2016, with Wycombe running out 2-1 winners.
Blues boss John Mousinho is expected to make wholesale changes to his team for tonight’s game. He’ll also have to make do without skipper Marlon Pack, who is serving a one-match ban following his red card in Sunday’s Championship defeat at the hands of Sunderland.

13. Mark O'Mahony - out (continued)
John Mousinho on December 31: "Mark's a couple of weeks away. He had his final injection in the injury at the back end of last week. "We're just waiting for that to settle down. It's been a bit more of a niggly one than we initially thought it would be. | Getty Images

15. Harvey Blair - out (continued)
John Mousinho said: "Any injury is going to impact on a player's progress - and certainly with Harvey it has. ‘He trained really, really well in the build-up to the Blackburn game and was going to come back into the squad. Obviously that was cancelled, the same for Millwall, when he also would have been announced in the squad. ‘He came on against Swansea and found the pace of the game quick, he didn’t quite get up to it quickly enough, and we are looking for solutions there the next time he comes into the first-team fold." | The News
