While the spectacle of playing on television might seem an attraction to many, it could be considered something of a curse for many at Fratton Park.
Since their 2019 victory against Sunderland in the Checkatrade Trophy, a game which was played on Sky Sports, 12 of the Blues’ league games have been chosen for live coverage.
Although this might not appear to be many fixtures over the course of three years, Pompey’s form in front of the cameras has been far from outstanding.
This has seen them record a win percentage of just 25 per cent in those matches, which also included play-off ties.
And with Danny Cowley’s men once again selected for live broadcasting against Derby and Wycombe in the coming weeks, it’s a record that should cause the Blues concern going forward.
Here’s how Pompey have fared in those 12 games mentioned.

5. Sunderland - 2020-21
Pompey were comfortably beaten at home by rivals Sunderland as further pressure heaped on boss Kenny Jackett. Goals from Charlie Wyke and Jordan Jones were enough to slump the Blues to a third successive League One defeat and proved to be Jackett’s final league game in the Fratton Park dugout. 6. Hull - 2020-21
The December trip to Hull proved to be a Christmas cracker for the Blues as they climbed to the League One summit. Pompey picked up all three points despite failing to register a shot on target with own-goals from Jacob Greaves and Josh Magennnis settling the tie. Although the contest took place in December, it remains their most recent league triumph on Sky. Photo: Alex Pantling

7. Oxford United - 2019-20 (Play-offs second leg)
Despite drawing 1-1 after 120 minutes, Cameron McGeehan’s missed penalty in the shootout was enough to deny the Blues a chance to fight Wycombe in the play-off final under the Wembley arch. Marcus Harness opened the scoring before an Ellis Harrison own-goal levelled the contest. Jackett’s men went on to lose 5-4 on penalties. Photo: Michael Steele

8. Oxford United - 2019-20 (Play-offs first leg)
With the contest played behind closed doors due to Covid-19, Pompey couldn’t utilise their home advantage and drew 1-1 to Oxford United in the first leg of the play-offs. The Blues took the lead through Ronan Curtis before Marcus Browne’s effort from outside the box made sure the U’s took a draw to the Kassam Stadium for the reverse tie. Photo: Warren Little
