Why Ellis Harrison was absent for Portsmouth's 2-0 defeat at Peterborough
Ellis Harrison was absent from Pompey’s defeat at Peterborough because his partner had given birth to their first child.
The striker was a surprise omission from Kenny Jackett’s match-day squad for the key League One promotion clash, having started in the FA Cup loss against Arsenal in midweek.
John Marquis spearheaded the Blues’ attack, while Oli Hawkins and Brett Pitman were the options from the bench.
Pompey fell to a disappointing 2-0 reverse, with Fratton youth product Dan Butler and Ivan Toney on target.
Blues boss Jackett said: ‘Ellis Harrison’s partner had a baby. It’s their first one so congratulation to them and that’s the reason why he wasn’t at the game.’
