Pompey’s first home game of the 2024/25 Championship season is just around the corner. John Mousinho and his squad will be looking to build on the superb efforts that saw the Blues come desperately close to beating Leeds United last weekend at Elland Road.
While the win was not to be, an impressive point was still taken and the Blues head coach will hope such momentum can be taken into this weekend’s clash when the Pompey squad play in front of a sell-out home crowd.
It’s been over five years since Luton and Pompey last came face-to-face in a competitive match. Pompey have won 17 of their 53 previous meetings but it was the Hatters who got the advantage back in January 2019. Here are the Blues players that lined up against the Kenilworth side the last time the two squads played each other...

9. CAM - Gareth Evans
Evans, now 36, was a huge fan favourite during his five year stay between 2015-2020. He went on to play for Bradford City before joining Radcliffe in 2022, for whom he still plays. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages/PinP

10. LW - Ronan Curtis
Curtis scored the first goal for Pompey against Luton. He was part of the Blues set-up from 2018-2023 and scored 57 goals and registered 27 assists during his 226 games for the club. Now departed, the Irishman remains Pompey's highest scorer in the 21st century. | National World

11. ST - Brett Pitman
Pitman was with Pompey for three seasons from 2017-2020. He most recently signed for Pompey's neighbouts Baffins Milton Rovers in the Wessex League Premier Division following a stint with Shaftesbury. | National World

12. SUB - Dion Donohue
Donohue came on as a substitute against Luton. He made 50 appearances and scored one goal during his two yars at the side. After struggling for minutes, Donohue left Fratton Park in search of regular first-team football. In 2021, however, the Welshman - who was 27 at the time - left football to be with his terminally ill niece. | National World
