The Blues made a blistering start in the market, unveiling nine new arrivals in the first 19 days.
So far, Will Norris, Conor Shaughnessy, Christian Saydee, Terry Devlin, Anthony Scully, Ben Stevenson, Jack Sparkes, Gavin Whyte and Kusini Yengi have been added into the ranks as John Mousinho looks to create a promotion-contending side.
However, there is still work to do with sporting director Rich Hughes insisting the Blues will be looking to bring in at least four new faces before deadline day on September 1.
So what remaining areas do need improvement this summer?
We’ve taken a closer look at each position to dissect the action required before the end of the transfer market.
Here’s how the squad shapes up.

5. Left-back
The Blues now have four left-back options, with Sparkes joining Connor Ogilvie, Denver Hume and Liam Vincent in the ranks. Mousinho revealed it was too good of an opportunity to turn down the 22-year-old, who departed Exeter at the end of the season. Hume’s future continues to dominate the headlines, with The News understanding there has been interest in the former Sunderland man. It’s likely the 24-year-old will have a new home by the September 1 deadline. Vincent is now into his third season at Fratton Park but it remains to be seen whether he will be competing for a first-team spot this season or head out on loan. Should he depart on a temporary basis, this would see Ogilvie and Sparkes compete for the starting spot on the left flank. Photo: Portsmouth FC

6. Central midfield
The Blues are well stacked in the centre of the park, with two new additions already this summer. The arrival of Stevenson and Devlin sees Mousinho’s tally of centre midfielders increase to six, with Joe Morrell, Marlon Pack, Tom Lowery and Harry Jewitt-White already within the ranks. All six will be competing for those starting spots this term, in what will be a hotly contested fight for a place in the engine room. It remains to be seen how Pompey will shape up in the centre of the park, with Mousinho varying between two and three in the second half of last term. A new number eight could still be on the wishlist for the head coach, who is weighing up his options ahead of the start of the season. Photo: Jason Brown

7. Attacking midfield
The number 10 position is an area of improvement which has been long earmarked by Mousinho. The Blues currently have no attacking midfielders within their ranks following the departures of Joe Pigott and Michael Jacobs, who appeared there during the second half of last term. Pompey could look at bringing in a man who can operate both as a eight and 10, with the head coach often varying with formations. Tommy Leigh has been a name strongly linked with a return to Fratton Park, but the Blues believe Accrington's £200,000 is too much for the 22-year-old. Photo: George Wood

8. Wingers
Pompey now have three wingers within the ranks after the arrival of Scully and Whyte, who join Paddy Lane. It was an area desperate for improvement, with the lack of creativity from the wing evident throughout the previous campaign. Reeco Hackett has departed, while Ronan Curtis rejected the Blues offer in a bid to earn a better deal when he returns from an ACL injury later in the year. Another addition in the wide areas could be on the cards, with Pompey still yet to sign anyone on loan this summer. Photo: Portsmouth FC
