Watch: Portsmouth fans under police escort set off for south-coast derby against Southampton at St Mary's
Approximately 1,400 Pompey fans left for Southampton from Fratton Park this morning
Pompey fans are on their way to Southampton.
Coaches carrying approximately 1,400 members of the Fratton faithful departed PO4 at 8.55am this morning, all destined for St Mary’s for the latest south coast derby.
A police escort was accompanying the convy as it made its way out of the city and onto the M27, the same level of protection that is also being provided for those supporters who left Lakeside North Harbour and Winchester Park & Ride ahead of the game.
Fans were gathering a Fratton Park from as early as 7.30am as the wait for today’s much-anticipated Championship fixture draws to a close.
Today’s kick-off isn’t until midday, with the travelling Fratton faithful set to arrive at St Mary’s long before Southampton fans and both of today’s competing teams turn up.
A hero’s welcome is guaranteed for John Mousinho and his men when they do arrive, with the Blues desperate to silence their neighbours from up the road!
