Transfer news: Portsmouth rival Saudi Pro League side for international midfielder as €1m bid made - report

Just hours after being linked with a move for former Fratton favourite Abu Kamara, Pompey have supposedly added another midfielder to their wanted list.

Pompey have reportedly made a bid for Antalyaspor midfielder Jesper Ceesay.

According to Swedish media outlet Expressen, the Blues have approached the Turkish second-tier side with an offer in the region of €1m and remain in negotiations with the Antalya Stadium outfit over permanent transfer for the 24-year-old.

It’s claimed Pompey have made their move after having a longstanding interest in Ceesay, who only made the switch to recently relegated Antalyaspor last year.

Last season, he featured 33 times in all competitions for the now former Super Lig outfit. But his efforts weren’t enough to prevent his side finishing 16th in the table and dropping down a division for the 2026-27 season.

The Blues aren’t the only ones reportedly interested in the Swedish-born Gambia international, however.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Fateh have also supposedly lodged a similar bid with Antalyaspor. They, too, remain in talks as they attempt to strike a deal for the one-time AIK player.

Pompey linked with another midfielder

The potentoal of a move for Ceesay comes at a time when Pompey are closing in on a move for Estonia international Rocco Shein - a transfer the Blues expect to complete before they head off to their training camp next week.

Hungarian under-21 international Mate Tuboly is also reportedly on their radar, with reports last week suggesting a £1.3m offer had been made for the DAC Dunajská Streda midfielder.

Meanwhile, after missing out on a deal for Gibson Yah, who swapped Volendam for Bristol City last week, Blues boss John Mousinho rubbished reports Pompey were keen on out-of-contract former Peterborough United favourite Archie Collins.

Pompey are yet to sign anyone this summer, with the transfer window now into a third week.

The engine room remains a priority, though, with Ebou Adams, Marlon Pack and Luke Le Roux Mousinho’s only fit specialist midfielders at present.

As well as Shein, a move for UD Almeria striker Marko Milovanovic is also edging closer.
