Colby Bishop grabbed the only goal of the game in the second half, producing a classy first-time finish after galloping onto Ogilvie’s ball down the left.
Admittedly, Nicolas Schmid conjured up four excellent saves, four late on, but it shouldn’t detract from a hugely impressive team display from John Mousinho’s men, who scrapped and fought for everything.
And here are our Pompey player ratings…

5. Marlon Pack - 9
Mousinho’s faith is unwavering in the makeshift centre-half and it was another colossal home display from the skipper. Kept a clean sheet against Leeds - magnificent. Photo: Jason Brown

6. Connor Ogilvie - 9
What a second-half display from someone unrecognisable to the player who faced Leeds on opening day. Wonderful ball down the left for Bishop to run onto for his goal. Earned cheers in the first half when he clattered into goalkeeper Meslier during his own goal attempt. Photo: Jason Brown

7. Andre Dozzell - 9 - MOM
(Replaced by Isaac Hayden on 89 mins) Formed a great partnership with Potts in the middle and another all-action display. Produced a lovely roulette spin on the ball in the first half which drew cheers from the Pompey faithful. Lovely left-footed half-volley from Meslier brought a great second-half save. 8. Freddie Potts - 8
Back in the side after injury and immediately made an impressive contribution. Fits so well alongside Potts and the pair anchored the Blues’ midfielder so well. Photo: Jason Brown
