Pompey have overseen a chaotic summer of action, welcoming 15 new players to Fratton Park has 14 made their farewells. Jordan Williams was the first to make his arrival back in June and he was quickly followed by 14 more stars as the Blues prepared for their first season back in the Championship since 2012.
It was looking an exceptionally strong squad and while the Blues were still to contend with the absence of Regan Poole as he continues to recover from a cruciate ligament injury, all was appearing hopeful for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
However, heart-breaking news soon arrived revealing that Colby Bishop needed to undergo heart surgery after an abnormality was found.
The striker is now not set to be back in action for quite some time and has been joined on the treatment table by summer signings Jacob Farrell, Josh Murphy, Tom McIntyre, Tom Lowery and fellow Pompey star Conor Shaughnessy. Shaughnessy is, however, the most likely to make the first return to the pitch after missing the last two clashes through illness.
Despite such absences, Mousinho’s squad have picked up three points from their opening four fixtures and have utilised their new signings splendidly with Elias Sorensen even scoring on debut.
