The instructions Portsmouth fans have received ahead of south-coast derby against Southampton
2,500 Pompey fans will descend on Southampton for the latest south-coast derby on Sunday, October 11.
Pompey fans heading to the south-coast derby against Southampton have been receiving instructions via email that they’ll need to take note of in order to attend the much-anticipated game at St Mary’s.
The Blues have been allocated 2,500 tickets for the Championship fixture, which is set to be played at midday on Sunday, October 11.
But those supporters lucky enough to be going must once again adhere to certain conditions, with the most significant being travelling back and forth to St Mary’s via club-managed coaches.
That policy was successfully rolled out last term for fans of both clubs as the south-coast derby returned to league schedules for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
Fratton Park, Lakeside North Harbour and Winchester Park & Ride were named as the official pick-up and drop-off points for the game in Southampton on September 14, 2025.
And they will once again act as supporter hubs for the Blues, with 1,400 alone signed up to leave from Fratton Park on the morning of the game.
Those descending on PO4 are being asked to note that 300 parking places will be available for them behind the North Stand.
A first come, first serve policy will be in place for those wishing to park at Fratton Park.
Although, consideration must be given to club advice that recommends fans arrive one hour before their departure time. Fans leaving from Fratton Park will set off for St Mary’s at 8.55am.
No-one must arrive no later than 8.10am, which is 45 minutes before the coaches leave.
That guidance also applies to those supporters leaving from Lakeside (9.15am departure) and Winchester (10.10am), with searches and photo ID checks needed before boarding the coaches provided.
In addition, doors to the coaches will close 10 minutes prior to departure.
Hampshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, is adamant the ‘bubble’ transport operation remains the best way to ensure supporter safety.
So to ensure its smooth running, fans are also advised:
1. No food or drink will be permitted on board the coaches, bar water.
2. No bags bigger than A4 size are allowed.
3. Tickets for the game will be issued after departure.
4. One member of PFC staff will be on board each coach.
5. Coach numbers will be clearly visible on the front, rear and sides and will correspond with fans’ booking references.
6. An email containing full names and client IDs must be sent in advance to [email protected] if some fans wish to travel together on the same coach. The club will then do its best to accommodate the request
Attendees have also been advised that they will get further details on Thursday, October 1, with final travel documents to be received on Wednesday October 7.
