Dane Scarlett’s first-half goal proved decisive for Danny Cowley's men in their triumph over Port Vale.
Here are Neil Allen’s ratings for a Blues side which is enjoying a strong start to the 2022-23 season...
9. Ronan Curtis - 6
Replaced by Michael Jacobs on 65 minutes. Struggled to get involved consistently in proceedings, although always willing to track back to help defence. A first-half header and second-half blocked angled shot were best attacking moments. Photo: National World
10. Colby Bishop - 6
Pompey's leading scorer was barely presented with a glimpse of goal during a match of few opportunities. However, always has a willingness to chase and uses the ball in the air superbly. Photo: NationalWorld
11. Dane Scarlett - 7
Replaced by Jay Mingi on 76 minutes. Got off the mark for Pompey to cap another encouraging performance brimming with pace, belief and movement. Scarlett had been threatening to net in previous matches, now he's up and running. Photo: NationalWorld
12. Clark Robertson - 6
Replaced Michael Morrison on 10 minutes. Was troubled by an Ellis Harrison with a point to prove after early introduction from the bench, but eventually came to terms with his task. Photo: National World
