'Should never be a thing. Stop it' - Fratton faithful all say same thing as Portsmouth name team for QPR game

Hilarious Pompey fans on social media have taken exception to John Mousinho’s team sheet for today’s Championship game at QPR.

The Blues boss has made one change to the side that drew 1-1 with Oxford United before the international break, with the returning Callum Lang preferred over Elias Sorensen, who missed a penalty in the game against the Us.

Kusini Yengi is also recalled to the squad following a groin injury, while Zak Swanson’s as-yet unknown absence opens the door for Terry Devlin to make his first match-day squad for the first time since Middlesbrough away on August 28.

Yet it’s not the change to Mousinho’s starting XI that has loads of fans talking on X, formerly Twitter. Nor is it goalkeeper Will Norris’ continued exile from the squad after his costly mistakes at Stoke.

Instead, many have been expressing their frustration at, erm, Pompey listing the team for today’s Loftus Road fixture via social media in numerical order after the goalkeeper.

Traditionally, fans are given a bit of an insight into how the team will line-up, with names listed in positional order. Not today, though, giving many X users high blood pressure! Here’s what they’ve been saying following the release of the team…

@HancockAnalysis: Who signed off on having our lineups ordered numerically?

@ChrisTheLewis: Put the team back in position order please.

@DanLewis1999: Line up in number order should never ever be a thing.

@ollygrand__: Like it. Stop with number order please.

@d_raffan: Please stop putting the starting eleven out in numerical order after the goalkeeper.

@cymru_pfc: Stop with this woke number order.

@__CGibbs: Wonder if this is to hide our formation (for the first few minutes at least)? We need any advantage we can possibly create and cling onto at the minute…

@Smythers_9: At least put the entire 11 in numerical order. My OCD is hurting.

@Callum17077: Why are we doing the team in numerical order it's painful?

@NoahPfc: Number order p****s me off. But yeah that’s the best we can field with the players we have fit.
