A tight match opened up late on, with Matt Macey twice called upon in the dying moments, while substitute Ronan Curtis had two great chances.
But Colby Bishop should have settled it two minutes from time, over to shoot over from eight yards with just Carl Rushworth to beat.
Some encouraging displays, however, and here are our on-the-whistle player ratings...

9. Myles Peart-Harris - 7
There are often promising moments, but he frustratingly fails to take advantage, perhaps the story of his Pompey loan. However, he produced a lovely first-time finish from Lane's pass to score the opener. The quality is there. Photo: Jason Brown

10. Callum Lang - 6
(Replaced by Christian Saydee on 65 mins) Has struggled to retain the excellent momentum he had built up before the injury, but never short of commitment and endeavour. Regardless, played a huge part since January arrival. Photo: Jason Brown

11. Paddy Lane - 8
Recalled to the side and laid on the winner with a lovely pass to Peart-Harris from the right. Had been relatively quiet until then but possesses the quality to always make things happen, as we’ve seen all season. Then capped it with a second in stoppage time after Kamara's shot hit the post. 12. Colby Bishop - 6
(Replaced by Kusini Yengi on 65 mins) Took a blow to the head in a collision with the keeper early on, but was able to continue. Had a backheeled opportunity in the first half which represented his best chance of the match. Photo: Bryn Lennon
