Section of Fratton faithful make season-ticket point amid John Mousinho future speculation
Fratton Park season-ticket holders can currently renew their PO4 seats for next season
Some Pompey fans are debating whether to renew their Fratton Park season tickets amid ongoing speculation around John Mousinho’s future.
There’s a number of supporters among the Fratton faithful who are cautious about parting with their hard-earned cash if doubts remain over whether the head coach will be with the club next season.
They’re understandably linking his Pompey future with the ambitions of the owners, with many of the opinion that Mousinho will be tempted by clubs elsewhere, like Bristol City, if his vision for the Blues is not matched by the board.
The window for Pompey season-tickets to renew their match-day passes opened on Wednesday. Those interested will have until 4pm on Wednesday, June 3 to secure their seat for the 2026-27 campaign, with any unsold tickets then released to those on the club’s waiting list.
Many supporters of social media have revealed they’ve already taken up the option to renew their tickets. There’s others, though, who are reluctant to do so until they get clarification on the head coach’s position
Pompey chief executive Andy Cullen told The News on Wednesday that no approaches had been made by Bristol City or any other club for Mousinho.
However, that hasn’t stopped the speculation that has been rife since the Blues’ Championship status was confirmed two games before the end of the season.
Here’s a selection of what fans on social media have been saying about season tickets as Mousinho’s future remains unclear...
Ray McCready: I think its ironic, season ticket renewals have started but a major issue is hanging in the balance.
As yet I've not renewed mine and my grandson's tickets. Letting JM go to another Championship team, shows lack of ambition by the Eisners. JM has worked on a shoestring budget and kept us in the Championship, all I wanted, but struggling so close to the bottom, isnt good for anyone. Whoever the manager for the coming season, they'll want a fair salary and a transfer budget, the things JM wants. So, why not back him?
@Daveyboy1995: Don't think you will see anyone renewing until we have an update on JM.
Kolonel Kasper: Tell us about the manager and his budget first.
@LWalterini1898: No thanks, not until the owners show ambition and keep the manager, sadly wont be renewing for next season as it stands.
Stephen Brown: How about let us know one way or the other about our manager.
@jahampson: Any chance you can confirm if our manager is staying or not?
Paul Wilkins: Are the club renewing it's ambitions to be more then just relegation material and meet the ambitions of the current (probably soon to be ex) head coach and its fans?!
If he isn’t then one can only surmise the budget for the season is whatever change was found around Fratton Park at the end of the season, and fans might therefore prefer not to part with their hard earned money.
@marksampo: Not renewing until we here a bit more from the club.
@Boiing2022: No Mous news none of my money.
