We all have our opinions on the matter but The News has been keeping a record of each player’s performance levels with the help of our match ratings.
There’s been some reality checks dished out via our score system since the season began, with plenty of fives and sixes handed out as the Blues struggled early doors in the division.
Some might argue even those ratings were generous given the displays against Wigan and Doncaster Rovers – to name but two.
Meanwhile, the odd fan might disagree with Marcus Harness only getting a nine following his magnificent hat-trick against Burton.
Only he and Jack Whatmough have warranted such scores this season, proving that’s there’s room for improvement throughout the team if promotion is to be achieved this season.
So who is hot and who’s not this season so far, with the Blues currently sitting seventh in the table?
Well, let us assist you with the help of our average ratings from the Blues' 10 League One games to date.

5. John Marquis - 6.2
The striker's form has picked up in recent games, with five goals in his past four league outings. Marquis' average rating is down at the lower end of the scale following an indifferent start to the campaign. His first league goal only came against Gillingham - Pompey's seventh game of the League One season. (6.2 rating) Photo: JPIMedia

6. Ben Close - 6.25
Midfielder has really struggled to find game time this term. His one start to date came against Doncaster, but was withdrawn on 81 minutes as the Blues chased the game. Up until that match, Close's only run-out in the league came as a 80th-minute substitute against Shrewsbury. He's played 18 minutes of third-tier football since Donny. (6.25 rating) Photo: JPIMedia

7. Rasmus Nicolaisen - 6.3
The Dane has had to be patient as he sits behind Jack Whatmough and Sean Raggett in the central-defensive pecking order. Has only made three substitute appearances in League One so far - but Whatmough's hamstring injury will provide him with the game time he craves.(6.3 rating) Photo: JPIMedia

8. Michael Jacobs - 6.4
Arrived on a free transfer with plenty of hype. Due to a lack of fitness, it has taken Jacobs time to prove his worth. Was starting to show his quality before injury forced him off against Sunderland. Has been absent ever since as he attempts to recover from knee injury sustained. (6.4 rating) Photo: JPIMedia
