Traditionally, we ask fans to vote for their favourite over the course of the campaign, with The News/Sports Mail Trophy awarded to the deserving player on the final day of the season. Hopefully, that process will take place and football resumes as normal as soon as possible. In the meantime, though, we’ve been looking at who could come out on top based on the player ratings we award at the end of each Blues game. Hopefully, you’ll find the results interesting and won’t be too surprised by the outcome. Note: With Pompey having played 50 games this already season, we believe the cut-off point for selection is 15 matches this season.

1. Andy Cannon
For some reason it's hard to believe that Andy Cannon has made 26 appearances this term. He has, though, and he has an average of 7 from those outings. | JPIMedia Photo: JPIMedai

2. Alex Bass
The Pompey keeper has made quite an impression since coming into the team. He's got a 7.2 rating from 23 games played. | ©Pro Sports Images/PinPep Ltd. www.prosportsimages.co.uk +44 7803 730548 Photo: Simon Davies

3. Ellis Harrison
Harrison's all-round game is greatly appreciated by the Fratton faithful. With 10 goals in 37 appearances, he averages 6.8 from his games this season. | ©Pro Sports Images Ltd. www.prosportsimages.co.uk +44 7803 730548 Photo: Jason Brown

4. Lee Brown
Injury and the form of Steve Seddon has seen the left-back miss a good chunk of the season. Is still a reliable performer as his rating of 6.7 from 18 appearances shows. | ©Pro Sports Images Ltd. www.prosportsimages.co.uk +44 7803 730548 Photo: Graham Hunt
