Portsmouth were unable to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Championship after they suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Swansea City on Tuesday night.

The visitors did all of their hard work in the opening 45 minutes as Ethan Galbraith and Josh Key both found the net to put their side in control by the time the half-time whistle had been blown. Pompey did rally after the restart and Jacob Brown gave them some hope they could rescue at least a point when he reduced the arrears midway through the second half.

However, an equaliser remained out of reach and John Mousinho’s side remain just four points and three places above the relegation zone as they now turn their focus towards Monday’s home game with Derby County.
