Portsmouth's trip to Accrington in doubt - and not because of Covid cases

Pompey’s trip to Accrington on Saturday has been plunged into doubt.

Stanley’s Wham Stadium pitch will undergo an inspection tomorrow afternoon following snow fall in Lancashire yesterday and this morning.

Referee Bobby Madley will assess the pitch tomorrow, with frost covers currently protecting the surface.

A statement on Accrington’s website said: ‘There will be a pitch inspection at 1.30pm tomorrow afternoon ahead of Saturday's game against Portsmouth at the Wham Stadium.

‘With snow having fallen for large parts of the week and it continuing to do so this morning, the frost covers will be kept on the pitch ahead of tomorrow afternoon.

‘The club will provide a further update following the inspection by the referee.’
