The good and bad injury news for Portsmouth ahead Millwall showdown

Pompey face play-off hopefuls Millwall in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

John Mousinho is hopeful of having both Adrian Segecic and Harvey Blair back in the fold for Pompey’s trip to Millwall this weekend.

But the head coach has, though, ruled out Andre Dozzell with the midfielder expected to miss the ‘next couple of games at least’.

Pompey returned to winning ways in emphatic style on Tuesday evening, with a brilliant 3-1 triumph over Charlton Athletic.

The victory crucially lifts Mousinho’s troops away from immediate danger and are now four points above the bottom three.

The head coach had 13 players sidelined for the victory at The Valley as injuries continue to significantly affect his selection decisions.

Segecic was deemed fit enough to be named on the bench despite being withdrawn in the closing stages of their defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, but was an unused substitute in south London.

The Aussie suffered a dead leg after a collision with Blades keeper Michael Cooper and was forced off with 13 minutes remaining.

Blair, meanwhile, has missed the Blues’ previous seven matches due to a hip-flexor issue picked up in the 4-1 FA Cup loss against Arsenal last month.

Postive Pompey injury news ahead of Millwall

And the head coach has revealed both Segecic and Blair will both be assessed in training this week and is hopeful the pair will be fit to feature against promotion-chasing Millwall this Saturday.

Mousinho said: ‘He (Adrian Segecic) should be fine. It was one where we just didn’t want to risk it too much last night (Tuesday).

‘I think if we needed a goal we would’ve brought Segs on and taken the risk but as it was we were okay.

‘We’ll see how that settles down in the next couple of days. I don’t think he’ll train today, we’ll see how he is Friday and hopefully full available for the weekend.

‘We actually had Sheffield United pencilled in for Harvey (Blair) so he is slightly behind.

‘But we are going to have a full training session with him today so if he gets through that then we’ll see if everything is in order for us to think about what we do for the Millwall game.’

Dozzell was sidelined for the trip to Charlton on Tuesday after suffering an ankle injury late in the defeat to Sheffield United over the weekend.

The head coach added: ‘I don’t think Doz has had the scan just yet, I think he’s having his scan either today or tomorrow then we’ll have more news on him over the weekend.

‘Esentially just waiting for the swelling to settle down, he’s still in the boot and won’t be available for the next couple of games at least.’
