Portsmouth boss John Mousinho provides crucial Colby Bishop injury update ahead of Ipswich Town
Pompey welcome Ipswich Town to Fratton Park on Tuesday evening.
John Mousinho has revealed Colby Bishop is facing a short spell on the sidelines due to injury.
All eyes are currently on the transfer window as the Blues brace for a frenetic end to proceedings, with a host of names being tipped with moves in-and-out of Fratton Park.
There is a small matter of a Championship affair with Ipswich Town on Tuesday evening, with the original contest postponed due to a frozen pitch at PO4 in January.
There will be no Bishop in the ranks for Mousinho, though, with the Magic Man coming off due to injury in Pompey’s impressive 3-0 win against West Brom on Saturday.
The 29-year-old was withdrawn midway through the second half after turning his ankle, bringing a disappointing end to a brilliant performance against the Baggies.
The striker has been an ever-present in attack this term, despite a frustrating run of form in front of goal, which has seen him net just two goals in 27 appearances.
John Mousinho provides injury update over Colby Bishop
The head coach explained after the victory last weekend that the Blues will not know the full extent of Bishop’s set-back until he undergoes a scan once the swelling had decreased.
That remains the picture, although Mousinho has since admitted Bishop’s symptoms are looking ‘okay’.
The Pompey boss said ahead of Tuesday’s game against Ipswich: ‘Colby’s okay. I think we’re looking at an initial prognosis of 2-4 weeks.
He hasn’t had his scan yet but we’re okay on the symptoms. We still have to reserve the proper judgement on that until we find out. So we’ll see how it is.’
Pompey will have no returning faces to the squad for the visit of Kieran McKenna’s promotion hopefuls as injuries still affect his squad.
The Blues had 10 players unavailable for West Brom’s visit on Saturday, with Harvey Blair one of those continuing to be sidelined.
Harvey Blair injury update

The winger sustained a hip-flexor issue in the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup last month, with Mousinho initially earmarking a 2-3-week absence for the 23-year-old.
The former Liverpool man has now been pencilled in to complete his comeback against Sheffield United on February 14.
The head coach added: ‘Yeah, we’re looking at the Sheffield United game for Harv.’
It’s been a frustrating campaign on the south coast for Blair, who has been limited to just eight appearances so far.
Having missed the first two months due to the hamstring issue which was picked up against Hull City on the final day of last term, the 2024 arrival registered two outings before suffering a set-back in training.
After completing a return in December, the young talent has played a further six times before sustaining the hip issue in the 37th minute against Arsenal.
Pompey are still looking to be busy in the final knockings of the transfer window, although any arrival before the window’s closure will be unable to feature against Ipswich on Tuesday.
