All say the same thing after Portsmouth’s big Callum Lang injury clue ahead of Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton
Callum Lang has scored two goals in six appearances for Pompey this season, but has missed the Blues’ previous three matches due to injury.
Pompey fans on social media have spotted a big clue over Callum Lang’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
The 27-year-old is currently sidelined after picking up a fresh hamstring injury following their Boxing day draw against QPR.
This has forced the popular forward to sit out the Blues’ previous three matches in all competitions, including Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup.
It was a fresh set-back for Lang, who had undergone surgery earlier in the campaign for a hamstring problem in his other leg, which forced him to miss three months of action.
After his latest blow, John Mousinho revealed he doesn't expect the former Wigan man to return to fray for at least another three weeks, which could keep him out for as many as five upcoming matches.
However, the Fratton faithful are more optimistic over his current injury situation after spotting the attacker running in a social media post from Pompey In the Community on Wednesday afternoon.
Lang was seen jogging alongside fellow team-mates John Swift, Luke Le Roux, Nicolas Schmid, Ibane Bowat, Makenzie Kirk and Jordan Williams , who joined PITC chief Clare Martin at the club’s Hilsea training base for the latest leg of her five marathons in five days to raise vital funds for the John Jenkins Stadium.
And that has caught the attention of supporters, who have taken to social media to share their confidence over a more imminent return for the forward.
Pompey optimism over Callum Lang’s injury
@LukeEllisPUP said on X: ‘Off Instagram Pompey ITC today. Really hope there’s a few pork pies being told and a certain someone is about this weekend.
@PompeyNewsNow, meanwhile, are hopeful the head coach is playing mind games over Lang’s current injury situation. ‘Would we be surprised to see Lang named in the matchday squad next Sunday despite Mousinho saying he’s 3-4 weeks away?’

@SouthStandPFC added: ‘Callum Lang back in training?’ While @wobbs1962 is optimistic the forward can play a part for the trip to Hillsborough on Saturday. ‘Lang back for the weekend.....pup.’
Although @BlueArmyAlex, believes Saturday could come too soon, a return to the side for Lang could be on the cards for the huge south coast derby against Southampton next week. ‘Think this weekend is too soon, next weekend however…’
What John Mousinho has said over Callum Lang’s injury
Mousinho revealed the attacker is currently three weeks into his recovery and made clear of his desire for a return to the side for the Fratton favourite.
The head coach recently told The News: ‘Langy is okay, he is going to be 4-6 weeks from the time of injury, so we’re looking at at least three weeks into that.
‘It’s a different hamstring to the previous one. It doesn't make a difference to me, it’s still a hamstring, I just want him back.
‘It’s the way Callum plays, the intensity he plays at, he’s always going to be at risk. We did make a real conscious effort (to look after him), we always do with all the players who are coming back from rehabilitation, managing him back into it.
‘Maybe just with the load and the amount of games and the intensity of it, it was just one game too far.
‘From a football medical standpoint, we are comfortable with the fact we have done everything we possibly can with Callum and he has looked as strong as he can. Sometimes these things do happen.
‘There’s sometimes nothing you can do about injuries, hence sides have got them up and down the country.’
