Exclusive:Portsmouth transfer news: Gibson Yah latest following 'fallen through' development
Gibson Yah remains a player of interest for Pompey during the summer transfer window
Gibson Yah was a notable absentee from FC Volendam’s first day of pre-season training.
The midfielder was a no-show as the De Palingboeren players reported back for their first day under new boss Erwin van de Looi this morning.
Yah is widely reported to have had a release clause inserted in his contract if Volendam were relegated from the Eredivise.
Not being present at the Kras Stadion complex on Wednesday backs up that mode of thinking, as his former team-mates prepare for life in the Eerste Divisie.
The question that remains, though, is: where does the midfield enforcer go from here?
Earlier this week it was reported that Pompey’s move for the 22-year-old had fallen through.
The News’ understanding is that remains the case.
However, it does not mean the deal to bring the former Ajax youngster to Fratton Park is dead in the water.
Pompey retain an interest in the player, while they have received encouragement that Yah would still be open to the switch.
Whether the gap between certain conditions that must be met can be reduced enough to satisfy both parties remains an issue, though.
In the meantime, the Blues continue to weigh up potential alternatives to Yah.
That has seen them linked with Hungary under-21 international Mate Tuboly.
Free agent Archie Collins has also emerged as a potential option to boost Pompey’s midfield.
The News understands the 26-year-old former Peterborough favourite is open to a move to Fratton Park and proving his capability at Championship level.
