Portsmouth transfer flop Florian Bianchini dealt blow following brutal Swansea decision
Former Pompey loanee Florian Bianchini is at a crossroads in his career after suffering another setback
Florian Bianchini’s future at Swansea City has been thrown into doubt.
The former Pompey loanee has been left out of the travelling Swans party that is heading to Austria for a pre-season training camp.
The decision by boss Vitor Matos comes after the 25-year-old endured a largely disappointing loan stay at Fratton Park last season, which followed an underwhelming maiden campaign at Swansea in the aftermath of his £1.95m move from Bastia in the summer of 2024.
In fairness, Bianchini’s Pompey career was blighted by tendonitis in his knee, an injury saw him sit out four-and-a-half months of the 2025-26 Championship season.
However, in the 11 appearances he made for the Blues up until the end of November 2025, the Frenchman did little to endear himself to the Fratton faithful.
A run of five consecutive inconsequential outings, three of which were starts, at the start of the season was followed by a period where the winger was in and out of the side.
Indeed, for eight of Pompey’s next 14 games, Bianchini remained an unused substitute, with an assist in the 2-1 defeat against Norwich his only goal contribution before injury struck.
The injury, which saw the loanee return to France to see a specialist, resulted in Bianchini sitting out 24 games for Pompey.
It also saw head coach John Mousinho fail to register the forward in his 25-man squad list for the second half of the season.
Bianchini did eventually return to a Blues match-day squad for the visit of Ipswich to Fratton Park on April 14, with Mousinho having capacity to re-register the player ahead of the game.
But Bianchini remained on the bench and was not part of Pompey’s remaining four Championship games as his Fratton Park loan stay ended without any fanfare.
The forward has another two years on his Swansea contract.
