Portsmouth title winner hunting more success after snapped up by Grimsby

Prolific promotion winner Danny Rose has today joined Grimsby.

The former Pompey favourite was a key member of Paul Cook’s League Two title winners in 2016-17.

He totalled 64 appearances and five goals before leaving for Swindon in January 2019.

The midfielder later went on to win the League Two title with the Robins last season – representing his fourth promotion from the division.

Now the 32-year-old is on the move again, this time to Grimsby, today signing a two-year deal with Ian Holloway’s side.

The Mariners finished 15th last term, yet have been busy rebuilding, with Rose signifying their sixth summer recruit.

Rose told iFollow Mariners: ‘I jumped at the chance to work with Ian Holloway, as a lot of players would.

‘After we had those chats my mind was made up, that’s what I wanted to do.

‘I think I will bring quite a bit of experience to the team, I know the league well. I’ve had a bit of success at this level too.

‘Hopefully, I can bring that element to our play, bring a bit of composure to our play.’
