Pompey are currently enjoying a temporary break from their latest Championship campaign as international football takes centre stage over the next three weeks.
The pause will allow those Blues players not selected for their respective countries to recharge their batteries and recuperate from any niggles they might be struggling with eight games into the new term.
It will also give John Mousinho & Co plenty of time to take stock of their opening to the campaign, with Pompey sitting 19th in the table after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Fratton Park.
Focus will then shift quickly towards their next fixture against Southampton on Sunday, October 11, and who might be available for the much-anticipated head-to-head at St Mary’s.
Extensive injury checks on the Blues’ walking wounded will no doubt be carried out in the build-up to the game.
The players’ individual form over the past six weeks will also be analysed to determine who’s best placed to deal with the tinderbox atmosphere that such an important fixture generates.
Pompey will have plenty of analytics to help them see who’s hot and who’s not in terms of form.
Yet, they could also just check out the fans’ ratings for players, with the BBC asking the Fratton faithful to provide their scores for each participating member of John Mousinho’s match-day squad at the end of every game.
Supporters have been given the opportunity to register their ratings for six of the Blues’ seven Championship fixtures to date, with the option not available for the 2-0 win against Cardiff.
Nevertheless, the data collected across the rest of the matches provides a good indication of which players the fans believe are in decent form, who are borderline, and who has extra work to do over the next three weeks!
Here’s what we discovered after adding up each individual’s scores and dividing them by the number of Championship games they played this season.
Just like The News’ player ratings, the figure generated is ranked out of 10.
However, as you’ll see, it’s clear supporters can be so much harsher when it comes to scoring players’ performances!
