Portsmouth merrymaking in full flow as Southampton punished for Spygate

Pompey fans on social media have been sharing their thoughts on Southampton’s expulsion from the Championship play-off final.

And, as you would expect, there’s plenty of the Fratton faithful revelling in the punishment handed out to their south-coast rivals, who admitted spying on three Championship opponents this season - including beaten play-off semi-finalists Middlesbrough, who will now take on Hull City at Wembley on Saturday.

The St Mary’s outfit have also been docked four points by the EFL following a hearing by an independent commission.

Meanwhile, manager Tonda Eckert could also face disciplinary action after a Southampton intern was spotted observing Boro’s training session two days before the two teams were due to meet in the first leg of their play-off semi-final at the Riverside Stadium.

Both club sanctions are subject to a Southampton appeal, which will be heard on Wednesday (today).

However, there’s plenty of Blues supporters enjoying the sentences that have been initially handed out to their arch-rivals.
