Exclusive:Portsmouth in transfer negotiations with UD Almeria for 10-goal Serbia striker Marko Milovanović

Pompey are looking to strike a deal with UD Almeria for former Serbia under-21 international Marko Milovanović

Pompey are in negotiations with Spanish side UD Almeria for their Serbia striker Marko Milovanović.

The News understands reports linking the Blues with the 6’4’ frontman, also known as Marezi, are correct.

Although, the suggestion that a deal has already been struck to bring the 22-year-old to Fratton Park for €5m is premature.

The Blues’ initial offer for Milovanović was initially rejected by the Segunda División outfit.

However, there is hope that a second offer which has been tabled will be enough to convince La Unión to part company with a player they bought to Spain from Partizan in 2022 on a six-year deal.

Since then, Milovanović has featured 35 times for Almeria in all competitions - including 13 in La Liga - scoring three goals.

Last season, though, his stock rose after netting 10 goals in 32 loan appearances for Portuguese side Alverca as they finished 11th in Liga Portugal.

Pompey are in the market for additional firepower after forwards Colby Bishop, Makenzie Kirk and Thomas Waddingham scored five goals between them last season as the Blues finished 18th in the Championship table.

The Fratton Park side’s top scorer last term was attacking midfielder Adrian Segecic with 11 goals. The runner-up in their goalscoring charts was right-back Terry Devlin with five.

Pompey are known to be scouring European leagues for a solution to their goalscoring issues, but also have Plymouth Argyle’s Bim Pepple on their radar, after he netted 18 goals for the League One side last term.

Any potential deal there, however, could be scuppered if Milovanović, who is following the Blues on Instagram, completes an anticipated move to PO4.
