Corners, Bishop, staying positive - what Portsmouth faithful have been saying on social media following Wrexham defeat

Pompey are now five points clear of the Championship relegation zone after their defeat to Wrexham on Tuesday night

Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the Blues’ 2-1 defeat at Wrexham on Tuesday night.

John Mousinho’s side’s two-match winning streak on the road was ended by the Premier League promotion-chasers, despite the visitors displaying a lot of fight during an impressive second-half performance.

Nevertheless. there was enough in the display to keep spirits among the fans positive - even if Colby Bishop’s latest performance and Pompey’s use of their 15 corners failed to inspire some.

Here’s what fans on X have been saying since the final whistle went at the Racecourse Ground.

Pompey fans react to defeat at Wrexham

@laming_ade: Good effort against Moneybags FC… Feel that at least a point would have been a fair result, but if you don’t create/take chances that’s what happens. Still 6 points from 3 away games is more then I would have expected considering the opposition.

@PortsmouthFC_BR: Leaving the field defeated but very proud of the Pompey squad who gave their all in every play of the match. I dare say the defeat was even too heavy, considering what the team showed in the second half; a draw would have been fairer, but it didn't happen, oh well. Wrexham has plenty of quality, they have the third-best budget in the league, they are the new Manchester City of the Championship, and they have a team capable of comfortably securing a playoff spot in this league. Heads held high, come on Pompey!

@CamGpfc: Well done lads, showed fight and desire in that second half, proud of our performances recently.

@SidneyPalm93811: Bishop gives nothing how can people still say he offers anything? A penalty and a head on to cabellero and that’s it, strikes confidence into defenders

@caseytwo: 15 corners and not a sniff of a goal. Need to be more ruthless, as for all the domination in the second half their keeper had an easy game.

@Mike50618589: Playing with guts and spirit against teams who buy their success with millions....Well fought. We deserved a draw.

@andymp345: How many corners do we want to waste? Really wasteful.

@ProudieYT: On another day, we get the equaliser, but performances have been better over last three games, onto Saturday.

Skinnymanpfc: Dear John Mousinho. Why do you keep sticking with Colby Bishop? His goalscoring form has fallen off a cliff and his overall involvement in attacking play just isn’t there. The team needs more movement, more threat, and more end product up front.

@leesotheran1: Deserved the draw. Remarkable how well we are playing against teams with huge budgets, given our budget and our injury list and we’re still competing. Credit to those stepping up and just goes to show how quality Mous is. Imagine him with either fit squad or a decent budget.

@PompeyBroncos62: Don’t think we should be too upset about it. We played well the majority of the game and 6 points from 3 away games in a row is good for Pompey. Onto the next PUP

@IndianaDerman: Disappointing we were the better team but can’t get on the end of our many corners and can barely work the keeper.

@wate8181: Free hit tonight after 2 enormous wins, lads tried but came up short. Only complaint is why Bishop gets to play every minute of every game, absolutely shocking every week. Why didn’t Brown get a run out? And now Chaplin is back fit he’ll play every week regardless.

@tjhooker1151: Much better second half but chuffed and puffed but just not enough nouse and quality when it matters. 119 Attacks, 15 corners, but still no threat. A lot of tiredness no doubt, but this show how miserable the Eisners 'Wrexham Strategy' has been. Wrexham did the job very well.
