Portsmouth move ahead of Scottish giants Rangers with Norwich City, Derby County & Co vying for £1.5m defender
The transfer latest over the man Pompey made a £1.5m move for in the January transfer window.
Luke Graham is eyeing a move to the Championship this summer.
The in-demand Scottish defender’s preference is to test himself in the English second tier, as he gets set to leave Dundee.
Pompey preferable to Rangers with Dundee defender eyeing Championship
And that desire has put Pompey ahead of Scottish giants Rangers in the race to land the player they bid £1.5m for in the January window.
Graham is certain to be on his way from Dens Park before the close of the summer transfer window, with a huge array of clubs across the continent chasing his signature
Polish sides Lech Poznan and Jagiellonia Bialystok are strongly interested in the 22-year-old, along with the likes of Schalke, Valencia, Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg.
Portuguese outfit Famalicão are also keen, with a whopping 43 sides believed to have shown interest in the centre-back.
It’s the Championship over The SPL and continental leagues which holds the appeal for Graham, however, as he gets set to enter the last year of his existing deal with Dundee.
Derby County, Norwich City, Stoke City, Lincoln City, Charlton Athletic and Preston North End are some of the clubs from that level who have registered interest in Graham.
Pompey pushed hard in January to bring in the man who’s joined Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for a pre-World Cup training camp.
A bid of £1.5m was knocked back at the window’s climax, with the Blues now needing to consider if they now move again for the player.
Working with John Mousinho holds an appeal for Graham, who has seen the work the Pompey boss has put into developing young talent.
Mousinho’s own future is, of course, the subject of speculation with Championship outfit Stoke City keen on the Blues head coach.
Some clarity on what lies ahead for Mousinho would certainly help Pompey’s work in the summer window, with potential signings asking what if the head coach will be staying at Fratton Park moving forward.
The transfer window opens in just under three weeks on June 15 and will close at 11pm on September 1.
