Portsmouth in dramatic transfer deadline race against time to land Dundee defender
Pompey are continuing their nail-biting deadline chase of Dundee’s Luke Graham.
The News understands the Blues remain in talks to land the hugely promising centre-back, who John Mousinho believes can strengthen his side’s Championship survival bid.
The Blues have now placed several bids reaching north of £1m for the 21-year-old, with it looking like it may take a club record deal beyond £1.3m to convince the SPL side to do business.
That may not even be enough with boss Steven Pressley stating he expects Graham to remain at Dens Park, beyond tonight’s 7pm deadline.
Graham is still with his club, but is on standby to fly south to complete a medical if agreement on a fee can be reached today.
That would realistically have to happen by mid-afternoon to allow the move to be sealed.
If that happens, it will then be a race against time to get the deal over the line before this evening’s cut-off point.
Completing the details of the agreement will be possible with documents able to be signed off and registered by email.
Mousinho sees Graham as someone who can come in and immediately impact his first team, which has been decimated by injuries.
In the event of the Scottish under-21 international not becoming a Pompey player today, there is every likelihood a deal will then be pursued in the summer.
