Pompey are said to be heading off interest from Championship and League One sides, with there also teams from the SPL keen on the 20-year-old.

Kenny is making waves in the League of Ireland this season, after bagging five top-flight goals to date.

That follows on from 12 finishes in 39 outings last term, as Dundalk won the League of Ireland Division One title.

That saw plenty of sides eyeing the son of former Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny, but it’s Pompey who are about to announce the player’s signing - according to the Irish Mirror.

Kenny was left out of his side’s 2-1 loss at Shelbourne last night, with the Blues said to have met a £34,000 release fee in the player’s contract.

Dundalk boss Ciarán Kilduff confirmed Kenny has played the last game for his club, with his exit imminent.

He told the Irish Independent: ‘Eoin has been flying but the reality of a player flying is, it looks like Eoin will be leaving the club in the next 24 hours,” Kilduff said before the game in Tolka Park.

‘It only happened late in the week, we have been speaking to him all week, it’s something that has transpired and I’d say it will be announced in the next 24 hours.’

Bailey agreed a three-year deal this week, with the former Birmingham City man leaving League One outfit Stockport County.

Pompey are pushing on with their recruitment plans this summer, as they show intent to raise the bar with the transfer activity.

Estonia international, Rocco Shein, is in the Blues’ sights with the final details of his arrival at Fratton Park from Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad FK being completed.

Meanwhile, Pompey are in negotiations with Spanish Segunda Division side UD Almeria over bringing in powerhouse striker Marko Milovanović.

An initial £2.5m bid for the player with a 10 per cent sell-on clause is believed to have been rejected, with talks over a £3.5m agreement with similar sell-on continuing.

Both of those transfers would be landmark deals for Pompey, representing the most paid for a player since Michael Eisner’s arrival at the club - and highest fee since the Premier League era.
