Portsmouth Abu Kamara transfer latest after boost in hunt for Hull City man

The latest this morning on the push to bring Abu Kamara back to Fratton Park from Hull City.

Pompey have gained another Abu Kamara transfer fillip as they zero in on the winger.

The Blues still have the League One title winner firmly in their sights, as a move for Kamara progresses this summer.

Pompey remain confident of seeing that deal to fruition, with there a strong desire on the 23-year-old’s part to return to PO4.

There’s alignment with Hull City over a fee for Kamara, with some issues between the player and his agent an obstacle to seeing the deal over the line.

They appear to be in the process of being negotiated, leaving the pathway clear for the former Norwich City man to complete his homecoming.

And there’s positive news this morning over another factor surrounding getting Kamara to link up with John Mousinho’s squad.

The Tigers are pushing forward with a significant deal to bring in their player’s successor, with Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey the man in the frame.

Bailey is being sought, with the Premier League new boys reportedly prepared to shell out as much as £20m to bring in the Jamaica international.

That is a deal which has been twisting and turning, with the suggestion last night his switch to the MKM Stadium had collapsed.

The latest update this morning, however, is the move is still on track and progressing to a conclusion, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

That’s good news for Pompey, with Sergej Jakirović needing to keep himself covered as they continue their build-up for their top-flight opener against Manchester United.

Kamara has been involved with the Tigers in pre-season, as he arrives at the new campaign in condition.

The Londoner featured in the second half of Hull’s 1-1 draw with Turkish Süper Lig side Kasımpaşa on Saturday.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano this morning also indicated a Pompey move for Kamara is ‘close to being agreed’.

Championship rivals Charlton Athletic have also been touted for a move for the player, though it’s the Blues who remain firmly in the box seat to see a transfer to fruition.
