Portsmouth title winner and Coventry promotion hero lands 13th club of much-travelled career
The central defender made 15 appearances in Pompey’s League Two title success
A Pompey League Two champion under Paul Cook is still going strong after clinching the 13th club of his long career.
Tom Davies made 15 appearances in the Blues’ memorable 2016-17 title-winning campaign, often partnering Christian Burgess in the centre of defence.

The aggressive defender possesses the distinction of winning League Two promotion in successive seasons, firstly with Pompey and then, in 2017-18, at Coventry.
Now the 34-year-old has made the switch to non-league Radcliffe, who finished 13th in National League North last season.
Signed from Accrington
Landing at the Neuven Stadium on a 12-month deal with an option, Davies featured for Salisbury and Chester in the 2025-26 campaign after leaving the Football League last summer following his release from Tranmere.
Signed by Paul Cook from Accrington in July 2016, the ex-Manchester United youngster started 10 of the opening 20 games in all competitions as Pompey established themselves in the top five to remain part of the automatic promotion pack.
That changed in November 2016, when Matt Clarke returned from a groin injury which had sidelined him since the end of the previous season to reclaim his place.
As the Burgess/Clarke double act flourished, Davies’ appearances dried up, although he did start two matches as Pompey registered 10 wins in their final 12 fixtures during a phenomenal charge to the title.

He was part of a back three alongside Clarke and Burgess for the March 2017 trip to Stevenage, with the Blues losing 3-0 following Burgess’ second-half dismissal.
With Burgess then suspended for the next game against Newport County, Davies kept his place in a back four as Kyle Bennett and Kal Naismith scored in a 2-1 victory.
However, the former Fleetwood man didn’t make the match-squad for the 6-1 triumph over Cheltenham which saw Cook’s men claim the title having topped the table for the final 32 minutes of the campaign.
Sold to Coventry
Following Kenny Jackett’s arrival as manager in June 2017, Davies was named on the bench in the opening five matches of the League One season, although didn’t feature.
He did start a Checkatrade Trophy clash with Fulham Under-21s, partnering Jack Whatmough in the centre of defence for a 3-3 draw at Fratton Park.
That proved to be Davies’ 16th - and last - Blues outing before being sold to Coventry for an undisclosed fee in August 2017.
Reuniting with his former Pompey skipper Michael Doyle, he was part of the Sky Blues side which won promotion that same season through the League Two play-offs.
Davies later featured for Bristol Rovers, Barrow, Tranmere, Salisbury, Chester and has now joined Radcliffe.
‘I know people who’ve been in and around Radcliffe and they’ve all said good things about the club, the manager, the way it’s handled, and the way it’s run.
‘We’ll have our goals and aims this season, and I’m here to help us achieve those.’
