How to get your ticket for south-coast derby game between Portsmouth and Southampton at Fratton Park

Pompey welcome Southampton to Fratton Park on Sunday, January 25 (12pm kick-off)

Pompey are understandably expecting demand for tickets to be huge for their south-coast derby fixture against Southampton at Fratton Park.

When the game kicks off at midday on Sunday, January 25, 14 years will have passed since the last league meeting between the fierce rivals at PO4.

And with the Blues’ Championship visit to St Mary’s back in September proving to be one of the must-be-at moments in recent Pompey history, the reverse fixture in 72 days’ time will be as equally momentus.

The currently managerless visitors will be allocated 2,700 tickets for the game - the same figure the Blues were afforded earlier this season - with all away fans housed in the Milton End.

But where does that leave Pompey supporters wanting to snap up the remaining nearly 18,000 tickets allocated to home supporters?

Well, with the help of this explainer, hopefully we’ll be able to simplify the process that lies ahead.

Note: The Blues have worked with the Heritage & Advisory Board and Tony Goodall Fans' Conference, plus other authorities, to ensure a safe, fair, and transparent ticketing process that rewards loyal supporters.

Key dates and eligibility criteria

1. Tickets go on sale at the end of November but all home supporters must meet eligibility criteria - including a Pompey ticketing account before May 3, 2025.

2. Tickets for the game will be limited to one per client ID, including season-ticket holders, and cannot be transferred or forwarded to another fan.

3. Season-ticket holders’ seats for the game are already secured. Meanwhile, those season-ticket holders who are being moved from the Milton End have already been contacted and provided an exclusive window to move to an alternative seat in the Fratton End, South or North Stand.

4 PO4 Members, who have a home match ticket purchase history, will be provided the first opportunity to buy tickets. Their purchasing window opens at 10am on Thursday, November 27.

5 Supporters who have purchased home match tickets over the past four seasons (including 2025-26) will be allowed to purchase their match-day ticket on Monday, December 1 (from 10am).

6. Fans who have purchased home match tickets over the past three seasons (including 2025-26) will be allowed to purchase their match-day ticket on Tuesday, December 2 (from 10am).

7. Supporters who have purchased home match tickets over the past two seasons (including 2025-26) will be given an opportunity to buy a ticket from 10am on Wednesday, December 3.

8. Fans who have purchased a home match ticket this season up until October 29 will be allowed to purchase a match-day ticket, if they remain on sale, on Tuesday, December 2 (from 10am).

9. Hospitality tickets and match sponsorship packages for the Southampton game went on sale in July 2025 alongside all other fixtures and are now sold out.

10. Parking for the game will be made available on Monday, January 19 (5pm) via the club's eticketing website.

Rules stipulate that whatever price a host club charges away fans must be reciprocated for those supporters sitting in like-for-like seats in the home end. This means non-season-ticket fans sitting in the Fratton End or wings of both the North and South stands have seen the price of their match-day ticket for the derby increased.
