Exclusive:Portsmouth handed financial boost after ex-Newcastle and Carlisle United man's transfer
The Dane scored one goal in 13 appearances for the Blues before being sold to Valerenga in January 2025
Pompey are set to receive a windfall from Elias Sorensen’s Holland move.
The Danish striker completed an anticipated switch to top-flight club PEC Zwolle on Friday, having spent the last 18 months in Norway.

Pompey had offloaded Sorensen to Valerenga in January 2025 after just five months at Fratton Park, having failed to convince boss John Mousinho.
It is customary for a sell-on clause to be inserted in the sale of Blues players, entitling them to a percentage of future profit made the next time he is moved on.
£367,000 transfer to PEC Zwolle
It has been reported by journalist Farzam Abolhosseini that the 26-year-old’s move to PEC Zwolle is for £367,000 (425,000 Euros). With the likely sell-on for the Blues, that would earn them a cut of the profit made.
Considering the former Newcastle man’s struggles on the south coast, despite netting 23 minutes into his debut at Leeds on the opening day of the 2024-25 season, it represents a welcome windfall for Pompey.
Albeit the final sum would likely be five figures to boost their summer spend, rather than anything particularly significant to drive their transfer window recruitment.
After leaving Fratton Park for Valerenga, Sorensen rebuilt his confidence by scoring 12 goals in 28 league matches in his maiden season in the Eliteserien.
However, halfway through the current campaign, which is presently in progress, he has netted just once in 10 appearances, operating either on the left wing or as a central striker.
Regardless, PEC Zwolle swooped to land the former Pompey man on a three-year deal with an option - and have handed him their number nine shirt.
‘A complete attacker’
‘We are pleased that we have reached an agreement with Valerenga IF and that we have Elias, who was already halfway through the season in Norway, with us right from the start.’
Pompey moved for Sorensen in August 2024 following Colby Bishop’s shock heart diagnosis during pre-season training.

The attacker had caught the eye at Danish club Esbjerg, where he had scored 43 goals and provided 22 assists in 84 appearances in the third tier.
Encouragingly, he netted just 23 minutes into his debut at Leeds, yet the former Carlisle loanee would start just three more matches for the Blues and, by the time of his departure, had totalled 23 minutes over the previous 13 fixtures.
‘The fact that they wanted me so badly gave me a warm feeling’
Sorensen told PEC Zwolle’s official website on Friday: ‘I am really looking forward to playing at the highest level in the Netherlands, after having already experienced the Dutch style of football in the past.
‘This league has a very good reputation in Scandinavia. Many Danes have gone before me, and Simon Graves and Younes Namli are of course two of them.
‘PEC Zwolle put a lot of energy and effort into bringing me here. The fact that they wanted me so badly gave me a warm feeling. The club came to watch me play several times, and Gerry, as well as the coach, spoke to me frequently.
‘In short, this just feels really good. I am ready for it.’
