Bristol City meet release clause for Lincoln boss in fresh twist for job also linked with Portsmouth's John Mousinho

The 43-year-old Lincoln boss has been linked with the Ashton Gate job along with John Mousinho

Bristol City have activated Michael Skubala’s release clause, according to reports.

As a consequence, that opens the door for the Robins to hold talks with the Lincoln manager over their head coach vacancy.

And with John Mousinho also claimed to be on the Ashton Gate radar, it represents a fascinating development.

BBC Radio Lincolnshire broke the news this evening, just 24 hours after other media sources ruled Skubala out of a switch to Bristol City.

By meeting the release clause in the League One title-winning boss’ contract, it enables the Robins to officially speak to the 43-year-old over the head coach job. Although this doesn’t mean he has subsequently agreed to take on the role.

Skubala guided the Imps to the Championship after totalling 103 points - a staggering 12 more than second-placed Cardiff.

By doing so, Lincoln have returned to the second tier of English football for the first time since 1961.

Last week, Andy Cullen told The News that there had been no official approach for their head coach, who has been with the Blues since January 2023.
