One season, three clubs, three debut goals: Portsmouth boss salutes latest remarkable landmark for rising talent

The free-scoring striker has now scored for three different clubs in the 2025-26 season

John Mousinho toasted the latest impressive landmark in Tayo Singerr’s stunning season.

And he is adamant Gosport Borough represents the next ‘natural move’ in the promising striker’s encouraging development.

The 18-year-old scored on his Pompey and Moneyfield debuts this season - now he’s netted on his first start for Gosport.

Loaned to the Southern League Premier South side earlier this month for the remainder of the season, unsurprisingly Singerr has wasted no time in making an impact.

Scoring on Gosport full debut

Handed his full debut at Bracknell Town, he collected a clearance from a team-mate and, from the centre circle, sped away from two defenders to produce a calm right-footed finish.

That 34th-minute strike opened the scoring for Glenn Howes’ men, with substitute Michael Fernandes completing the 2-0 success in the third minute of stoppage-time.

Unsurprisingly, Singerr retained his place for last weekend’s 1-0 win over Poole Town and Pompey’s head coach has high hopes that the talented youngster can continue to flourish in his latest challenge.

Mousinho told The News: ‘That was the natural move for Tayo, having been out already, scoring a bucket-load of goals, come back in, had an impact and made his first-team debut.

‘Now, with the amount of players we’ve got back, we are leaving players out of the squad. His chances are going to be limited with Browny in the side, obviously we have Colby who has been on the bench.

‘For Tayo, it’s about going out again and getting that exposure. From what I saw, it was a really good goal as well.

‘It’s a good step up. He did that well at Moneyfields, scoring so many goals and earned his recall here. We thought it was the natural thing to do.

‘We’ll probably look next year, depending on how he comes back for pre-season, about progressing him up the pyramid even more.’

He subsequently was loaned to Moneyfields, where he registered on his debut in a 4-4 draw at Binfield.

Singerr was then handed his Football League debut after coming off the bench in the 74th minute of the New Year’s Day 5-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Signed first professional deal in January

Almost a month later, the striker signed his first professional deal with the Blues - and has now linked up with Gosport, where he is already making a favourable impression.

Mousinho added: ‘The decision was made to loan Tayo out again, but there’s no need for me to get involved at the stage when you are talking about the destination.

‘The question was asked whether we wanted to let him out on loan, which we did. I’m not going to get involved in the detail of where he goes. I don’t think that’s anything I need to overly bother with because Tayo, his agent and the football club have got that.

‘But Gosport’s a great club for him to continue his development.’
