'Best under Nike, A bit predictable, Love the gold, Bland template again': Portsmouth supporters react to new home kit

Pompey have unveiled their new home kit for the 2026-27 season - and it has got fans talking.

The shirt’s traditional blue is joined by a blue and white trim, while gold details have been incorporated throughout the design to mark the 100th anniversary of the City of Portsmouth.

And we have asked supporters on social media for their opinions…

@RobDean72452428: Love the gold and the sponsor colour matching the badge colour. Nicest we’ve had in a fair while but another very bland Nike template again. Give us some individuality.

@geoff_burroughs: Love they’ve switched the badge to the classic one. I’d have liked a bit of texture on the shirt but the plain blue looks simple and clean. Lovely.

@higgins97103: Anything that has a ‘gold’ trim to it is a winner. Seems obvious really. Decent offering this time. Hopefully, the away kit is black. I will wait until then before purchasing one or the other.

@markmatthews49: This is one of the best we’ve had from Nike, love the gold and the 100 years of Portsmouth on the back! Haven’t purchased any of the other Nike kits but will be getting this one, just in time for our European adventure if they ever release ticket details!

@Rich03832303: I really like it. Best kit in a while. Love that we’ve gone back to the blue and yellow badge. Only critique would be I think the white stripes on the sides should be in gold.

@Captain_Outram: Possibly the best one we have had under Nike, my only feedback is it would’ve been a nice touch to have the collar white or gold too.

@_SReid: Simple. Clean. Best home shirt we’ve seen in a while. A subtle nod to the anniversary with the gold. A black and gold 3rd kit, maybe a yellow away, and we’re laughing.

@colemaniow: Really like it. A better interpretation of the 2009 shirt. Always feel that a proper Pompey logo should be in gold so happy to see that. Also the shirts look very similar year on year but this is distinctive. Pleased they aren’t switching to Blue shorts and socks (as 2009).

@Boxy200: Best home kit for a while, amazing what that bit of gold does to the finish. Need a decent pink away shirt now to make up for that abomination of a few seasons ago.

@LostTransport: Visually tidy and coherent were my thoughts yesterday. I haven't changed my mind after sleeping on it. It looks right.

Phil Solli Solomons: I will be buying it, but a bit predictable, I would like to see something a bit more adventurous, maybe having the Portsmouth spinnaker tower embossed into the shirt and I do think we need a collar.

Lee Bialas: Nice and simple, especially with the gold colour added.

Brendon Bone: Not much you can do with our colours, but I like it and the gold is a decent addition.

Brian George: People are saying it’s the best kit in years, but Nike have set the bar very low with giving us a catalogue kit every year. It’s nothing special.

Gary Hellyer: You have to understand that we’re limited in the designs we can have with Nike. Personally, I think it’s the nicest kit we’ve had in a long while. It’s the gold that sets this kit off. Will be buying!

Steve Davis: Simple, which I think is fantastic, and a little lighter than were used to for a home kit! The gold is a great touch!

Add a badge and player number/name and it’s over 80.. We know we need to raise income to compete in this league but there is also a cost of living crisis going on.
