Pompey have had a busy summer on the transfer front.
With nine new additions added to John Mousinho’s ranks and four players departing to date during the transfer window, the brief given to sporting director Rich Hughes to freshen up the Blues’ first-team ranks has certainly not been ignored.
And with just over two weeks of the summer trading period left to negotiate, there remains plenty of time for the Fratton Park side to continue to reshape their options.
Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to QPR on the opening day of the Championship season highlighted the need for additional work to be done.
Meanwhile, Mousinho has himself said he wants at least another three new signings through the door in order for Pompey to be a more competitive force in English football’s second tier.
Whether or not they are paid-for new additions, loanees or free agents remains to be seen.
The chances of the latter category being explored looks unlikely given the fact that the new EFL season is already a week old.
However, there remains some decent players without clubs who could help Pompey fix some of the problems that were on display against the Rs.
Here’s 10 we picked out who could still make the Blues a stronger force in the Championship.

5. Will Smallbone - central midfielder
A Pompey move for former Southampton midfielder Smallbone would prove controversial but he would be guaranteed to bolster a Blues midfield that didn't quite gel against QPR on Saturday. West Brom, Stoke and Burnley, clubs who will have promotion hopes this season, are all currently in a race to snap up the Republic of Ireland international. | Getty Images

6. Solly March -forward
The 32-year-old former Brighton forward is still looking for a new club after spending 13 years at the Seagulls. Would provide quality and experience to the Blues' forward line, while he can also play at wing-back if Pompey wanted to switch to a 3-5-2 formation - something they did during Saturday's defeat against QPR. | Getty Images

7. Danny Ings - striker
The 34-year-old has racked up £58m worth on transfer fees down the years and has scored 108 league goals. Released by Sheffield United at the end of the last season, Ings saw a move to Leicester this summer fall through. Pompey need depth up front amid Colby Bishop's struggle for goals, Marezi's need to adapt to the English game and Thomas Waddingham out injured again. 8. Will Keane - striker
Another experienced striker who could provide additional back-up as Pompey wait for Thomas Waddingham to fully recover from his ankle injury. No-one is suggesting Keane's a starter, but the 33-year-old has bags of experience and boasts a physical threat which could prove worthwhile in games. | Getty Images
