Portsmouth transfer news: Former Barnsley defender returns north to join Blackpool as exit confirmed
Jordan Williams joins Makenzie Kirk in leaving Pompey on loan this summer
Jordan Williams has sealed a move away from Pompey.
The defender has today put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal at League One Blackpool.
The move spells the end of his time at Fratton Park, with the 26-year-old now into the final year of the three-year contract he signed when joining from Barnsley in 2024.
The full-back made 53 appearances for the Blues during his two years at PO4, scoring one goal.
Pompey’s first signing following their League One title win in 2023-24, Williams was identified to be John Mousinho’s first-chice right-back for their return to the Championship.
However, injuries, plus the emergence of Terry Devlin and Zak Swanson, put paid to those ideas.
And with the defender, who operated as an emergency left-back for Pompey at the tail end of last season, keen for regular first-team football, it was mutually agreed to let Williams leave ahead of the new season.
He joins a Blackpool side that finished ninth in League One last season and is the second Blues player to leave during the current transfer window.
Makenzie Kirk joined Barnsley on loan earlier this month.
