'A very simple deal to be done': Portsmouth skipper Marlon Pack addresses his Fratton Park future
The Blues skipper, who made his 33rd appearances of the season on Saturday, is out of contract this summer
Marlon Pack eyed extending his Fratton Park future and insisted: It’s the simplest deal the club will do this summer!
Pompey’s skipper is among seven players out of contract following the conclusion of their Championship campaign.

While Andre Dozzell has rejected the opportunity to remain with the Blues in favour of a switch to DC United, fellow midfielder Pack is closing in on a new deal.
Certainly the 35-year-old is optimistic an agreement can be reached, having made 35 appearances this term, including featuring off the bench in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham.
And the Buckland boy is adamant his time at his beloved Blues is not yet over.
‘In my natural position, I have performed as well as anyone’
Pack told The News: ‘Hopefully something gets sorted, it’s a very simple deal to be done.
‘I’ll be honest, the season has progressed better than I thought in terms of myself and I’ve been really happy.
‘It takes a lot for me to say this, I am very open and honest with myself and I did numerous interviews last year when I said I had made mistakes in a position I have never played in.
‘Whereas this year, when I’ve been in my natural position and taking age out of it - which I don’t think should come into it - I have performed as well as anyone.

‘Also, the gaffer wouldn’t have picked me. Regardless of who you are, he picks the best side he thinks is available.
‘Talks started ages ago. Sometimes players don’t always have the greatest of control in these situations, obviously some players probably do, such as free agents of a certain age. But it should be done soon, I don’t think there are any disagreements.
‘It’s probably the simplest deal the club will do this summer. Although it’s football, isn’t it, nothing is simple! I would love to continue.’
Made 35th appearance of the season against Birmingham
Pack, who has been nursing a knee issue of late, came on for Luke Le Roux in the 84th minute of Pompey’s season finale against Birmingham.
Leading scorer Adrian Segecic’s 11th goal of the campaign had handed Pompey an eighth-minute lead, only for August Priske to level for the visitors just 11 minutes later.
The draw ensured John Mousinho’s men ended the 2025-26 season in 18th place - eight points clear of a Championship relegation zone which contains Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City and Oxford United.
Pack started 22 of those league matches, including 13 successive fixtures from mid-February, as they stayed up with two games remaining.
And he continues to be a pivotal presence in the dressing room and on that Fratton Park pitch.
‘I have probably got my head around being a bit-part player’
He added: ‘It has been a great season from an individual perspective.
‘I have probably got my head around being a bit-part player, making sure I maintain standards in the group, making sure in those big games the lads know what it is to play for this football club.
‘And we are all looking forward to Championship football again next season.’
