Ibane Bowat’s second-half strike was the difference at PO4, with the triumph moving Pompey seven points clear of the drop zone as the campaign heads towards its climax.

With the Blues close to completing their survival quest, planning will no doubt be underway behind the scenes ahead of a huge summer in the transfer window.

But Braaf will not be making the move to the south coast following a report from international transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Sunday.

The 23-year-old remains without a club having been released by Serie B club Hellas Verona in September 2025.

It marked the end of a disappointing three-year stay at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium, where he failed to register a goal or an assist in seven first-team outings.

During his frustrating stint with the Il Gialloblu, Braaf, who has 21 youth team caps for the Netherlands, also spent time on loan with Eredivisie outfit Fortuna Sittard and Italian second-tier side Salernitana.

But the winger’s deal was cut short prematurely in September and has spent the past seven months on the search for a new club.

The young forward began his career in England, which saw him rise through the ranks with Manchester City, featuring alongside the likes of Gavin Bazunu, Morgan Rogers and Jeremie Frimpong.

The left-winger netted 12 goals in 24 outings at U23s level, having previously scored three goals and amassed two assists at U18s level at the Etihad Stadium.

After impressing at youth level, Braaf’s stock was on the rise after moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2022, playing for their second side.

After an underwhelming stint in Germany, however, the forward would then spend time in Italy and Holland before his premature departure from Hellas Verona in September.

Pompey currently have a swath of options on the wing, with Josh Murphy, Franco Umeh, Harvey Blair and Keshi Anderson all contracted to the club for next season.

Meanwhile, Millenic Alli and Florian Bianchini’s loan stints will come to a close at the end of campaign and will return to Luton Town and Swansea City respectively.
