Stoke City have confirmed a significant backroom appointment as interest in Pompey boss John Mousinho emerges.
Stoke City have confirmed the appointment of Stuart Harvey as technical director amid new interest with Pompey boss John Mousinho.
The Potters’ summer overhaul behind the scenes continues, with the 45-year-old the latest key figure to make the move to the Bet365 Stadium following the signings Damian Roden as head of medical and Jack Higgins as academy director.
Harvey arrives in Staffordshire after a successful stint with Sunderland, where he orchestrated the Black Cats’ impressive rise from League One to the Premier League.

He will report to sporting director Jon Walters and will lead Stoke’s football operations including first team coaching and recruitment, research and analytics, football administration, medical, performance and more.
And Walters lauded Harvey’s appointment as an ‘important step’ in strengthening the Potters’ football operations as their summer overhaul continues.
Speaking on the club website, the Irishman said: ‘Stuart is a highly respected operator in the game, who most recently played a much-valued role in Sunderland’s journey to the Premier League.
‘His knowledge and experience have been built across a number of clubs and environments throughout his career.
‘Stuart has developed a strong reputation in the game and understands the standards and detail needed to help drive success.
‘This appointment is another important step as we continue to strengthen the football club in all areas, and Stuart’s arrival shows the ambition and commitment to keep moving the Club forward and give us the best possible platform to be successful on the pitch.’
Stoke interest in Pompey boss John Mousinho emerges

News of Harvey’s capture comes after new links with Pompey boss Mousinho emerged on Thursday.
The News confirmed the in-demand head coach was on the radar of the football operations at the Bet365 Stadium amid uncertainty over Mark Robins’ future.
Walters is known to be an admirer of Mousinho, with Stoke now proving to be the identity of the unnamed Championship club keeping tabs on the 40-year-old’s situation.
The Pompey boss’ future has been under the spotlight in recent weeks, having been heavily linked with the Bristol City vacancy.
Despite the head coach initially emerging as a ‘leading contender’ for the Aston Gate position, the Robins now look to have moved on in their search, with Bournemouth’s Tommy Elphick the front runner.
The Blues have consistently insisted they received no official approach from any of their Championship rivals regarding their in-demand boss as his stock in the game continues to rise.
