'How is he qualified?': Unanimous Portsmouth verdict after 'diabolical' refereeing display against Bristol City

The Fratton faithful have taken to social media to vent their frustrations over Sam Allison’s officiating during their 1-0 loss to Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

John Mousinho’s men suffered their sixth defeat in eight games, with the result dropping them into the relegation zone for the first time this term.

But there was one man’s performance which came under the spotlight, with some of the referee’s decisions being questioned by both sets of fans at PO4.

On the day, Allison handed yellow cards to Andre Dozzell, Regan Poole and Josh Murphy, while fans were left puzzled as to why Bristol City’s Ross McCrorie escaped a booking for a number of fouls against Murphy and Callum Lang.

Pompey have had a mixed history with the official, who came under fire from Danny Cowley for his performance against Crawley in 2022.

The former Blues boss branded it as ‘one of the worst displays of refereeing’ during an EFL Trophy defeat to the Red Devils.

And after his latest performance, the Fratton faithful were irate over some of Allison’s decision making at PO4 and have since vented their anger on social media.

@LChinery7: My favourite pastime on a Saturday afternoon has now become watching Sam Allison attempt to referee. It's a rollercoaster every week, and 9 times out of 10, it's diabolical.
