Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday faithfuls in show of appreciation and agreement after Hillsborough clash
Pompey and Sheffield Wednesday fans both had plenty to say after yesterday’s Championship showdown at Hillsborough. Here’s a selection of views on X, formerly Twitter.
My day was made when I was in town before the game and briefly met #pompey fans Ian & Maggie randomly over coffee on High St. Before they left they gave me this glass from the 1934 cup final which I will treasure forever. Hope they stay up! Proper club #swfc @IxW1867
Portsmouth fans: “How **** must you be, we’re winning away". Sheffield Wednesday fans: “How **** must you be, it’s only 1-0. Football fans' gallows humor is unmatched. @ChampionshpTalk
Pompey fan: Honestly wish all the best to Sheff Wed, huge cub
I honestly wish all the best to Sheffield Wednesday. Huge club. Should be in the Premier League! I’m sure they will come back so much stronger! #pompey #swfc @PORTSMOUTHFCLEE
A quick word on Portsmouth today, I thought they looked very one dimensional in their play, I'd be pretty worried if I was one of their fans. Can see them being in a relegation battle come the end of the season #pompey #swfc @harvey_walters_
Not wrong, and we know it. We'll be in there fighting, but whether we'll be good enough, I doubt it. I still say we burgle 21st place by winning on the last day. @therevba
No ‘end of the season’ about it. We’re one of the 5 worst teams in the league without a doubt.@lukeatiyah
There isn’t a single one of us who disagrees pal, we know exactly where we are at. @LukeEllisPUP
It's not as funny when they just agree with you. @AdamKettle17950
Weren't the prettiest of games, but main thing was that we came away with the 3 points! Big win that. @Daveyboy1995
A poor, low quality game between 2 struggling sides, but 3 points and a clean sheet away from home for #Pompey is all that matters. Hopefully more signings to come in and the new lads will get to settle in quickly. Just wish Chaplin would drive and shoot more. Play up Pompey. @PompeyFlag
It wasn’t pretty, but we absolutely needed that. Well in lads. @Dann_PFC
I can’t remember how many times I’ve said this, but had we someone up top who actually knows how to kick a football we’d have won today. Fair play to Pompey, that was a brilliant counter attack. #SWFC @Trigger1410
